So I Close My Eyes
The mountain calls me home
talking to me through the sounds of sirens
and congested ...littered highways
So I close my eyes and smell the rich pine
and tune my ears to the roar of rocky streams
There is a purity
to the smoke of a crackling fire
To the shadows of candlelight
It once was home
in another life
So I close my eyes
There is no majesty like a soaring eagle
whose eerie call pierces the canyon walls
and echoes a time of real freedom
So I close my eyes and experience its magnitude
and tune my vibration to the universe
There is a symphony
to the background sounds of nature
To the unfettered light emitting a billion stars
It once was home
in another life
So I close my eyes
There is a clarity to the thick fog
that blankets a mountain lake
It begs deep reflection
So I close my eyes and open my conscious
and tune my thoughts beneath
The cold springs exhilarate
Cleansing one of the flaws of civilization
cooling relief for the sweat of Man induced progress
It was home
in another life
So I close my eyes

Hi Todd. I'm loving the poems on your site, but the centred lines are really distracting me! Anyway, hope to come back here and hang with your words some time soon.
ReplyDelete*The center lines... is what gives the words a lift... exaggerated words... exaggerated...
ReplyDelete**We see it on the streets, hear it in a grocery line, feel it deeeeeeeeep down, and then we have to wonder "What meant more" the next fix, or the family.
**I liked it from start to finish... you captured it very niiicely... Niice spew of iink..
